This fantastic activity day is suitable for groups studying the Tudor period. Groups can take part in up to three different activities (as outlined below) depending on timing and the numbers in your group. Choose yourself or let us put a package together for you.
Activity 1 – Crofter’s Cottage
Spend time exploring a Tudor Cottage to discover what life was really like for an ordinary Tudor family.
Activity 2 – Cruck Frame Building
Build and raise your own cruck frame building with this fun team pursuit (suitable for Year 2 only).
Activity 3 – Merrills (self-led)
Get in a game of Merrills, a popular Tudor game. Learn the rules and hold your own mini-tournament.
Activity 4 – Handwriting
Using feather quills and homemade ink, learn about the art of Tudor handwriting.
Activity 5 – Plague Potion
Help grind and mix a natural cure used by the Tudors to fight the most feared disease of the times.
Activity 6 – Tudor things at a touch (self-led)
Get hands-on and explore real and replica Tudor objects by making use of the museum’s handling box onsite and included in the activity day cost.
