Victorian Life

This activity day will help your group understand  the Victorian’s domestic life, from their school days to household chores.

Choose up to three of the activities listed below.

Activity 1 – Household Chores

Explore our Victorian period White Cottage and experience everyday domestic duties of the  Victorians. Let your group get hands-on with making the bed, beating the rugs, scrubbing steps and making toast.

Activity 2 – Wash Day

Spend time working in the wash-house using the different laundry equipment used by the Victorians.

Activity 3 – School Room

Let your group impress the  teacher with their handwriting using slate boards and ink pens in our Victorian classroom.

Activity 4 – Rag Rugs

Learn how to rag rug and make a small piece to take away.

Activity 5 – Toys (self-led)

Play with traditional Victorian toys including hoops, skipping ropes, spinning tops, flick books, whip and tops, cup and balls and marbles

Activity 6 – Handling box (self-led)

Get hands-on  and explore real and replica Victorian objects by making use of the museum’s handling box onsite and included in the activity day cost.
