Why we need your support

Did you know that Ryedale Folk Museum is an independent charity? We don’t receive any ongoing public funding. We rely on generating our own income through admissions, commercial activities, grants and donations.

Donations are an important part of our fundraising and crucial to the Museum being able to care for its collections, conserve its historic buildings and work with local people and communities. Without people’s generous support we would not exist.

You can donate online now using the link:

Many of our historic buildings are due to be re-thatched in the next five years. We need your support to do this, so that these buildings can be enjoyed now and for future generations.

Donate in memory or in celebration

We often hear of people who have fond memories of visiting Ryedale Folk Museum, or because they previously lived in the area or were associated with the Museum in the past.

Making a donation in someone’s name is a lovely way to celebrate someone’s life, as well as helping the Museum to care for its collection for future generations to enjoy.

If you would like your donation to be put towards something specific, then please contact us and we would be happy to discuss ideas with you.

In the past, some people have set up a collection in memory of a loved one by donating the proceeds from a funeral or memorial service collection. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this.

A donation in the name of a loved one, can be a fitting tribute and a wonderful way to help the Museum, support our local community and help our heritage live on.
