Intimate Weddings & Elopements

Here at Ryedale Folk Museum we offer an exceptional and romantic setting for elopements, vow renewals and intimate weddings in North Yorkshire.

We welcome traditional, quirky and historical ceremonies, for up to 58 guests. Whether we are hosting your elopement, hand-fasting, intimate ceremony, or exclusive use wedding, we promise an individual and friendly experience.

You can find us settled in the picturesque village of Hutton-le-Hole, within the quiet countryside of the North York Moors National Park. Our open-air museum offers a memorable and unique wedding venue:

  • Discover rural life and travel through time – explore 4,000 years of history.
  • Entertain your guests – they can visit the animals and explore family-friendly exhibits.
  • Capture distinctive wedding photos – with 20 heritage buildings as your backdrop.
  • Give something back – Ryedale Folk Museum is a charity with sustainable values.
  • Invite the VIPs – we’re dog-friendly and know pooches are often top of the guest list!

Unique – Memorable – Intimate

There are nine buildings to choose from at the Museum. Whether you’d like to get married in our impressive thatched 16th century Manor House; have your elopement in the unique Undertaker’s Office; or host a hand-fasting ceremony in the Iron Age Roundhouse, we have the perfect wedding venue for you!

Please all details and images of all options on our Wedding Locations page.

Ceremony Locations booked from Saturday to Thursday: your chosen building will be solely yours for the duration of the hire period indicated, but the remainder of the Museum will remain open to the general public.

If you’d like to start your post-ceremony celebrations here too, you can choose one of our Reception Locations. Two characterful spaces are suitable for informal receptions – see the Wedding Locations page. You can raise a glass to your future; enjoy your wedding cake; bring along your own nibbles or posh picnic; or arrange for a local supplier to cater for you.

Exclusive Use – available on Fridays only: includes use of the Ceremony and Reception Location of your choice and sole use of the whole Museum site for a hire period of up to 5 hours.

Please note that we are a daytime only venue. Hire periods can be booked between the hours of 9am and 5pm from April to September, or 9am and 4pm in March and October.
